Following the death of four children in Lucknow due to the spurious vaccination, the Uttar Pradesh Government has demanded a financial assistance of Rs 10 from the Centre for the each kin of children.
Stressing the need to lay especial emphasis on the quality of vaccines, the state Health Minister Anant Mishra said that keeping in mind the interest of the vaccination drive financial assistance form the central government is necessary.
The samples of vaccines - which killed children - have been sent to Central Drug Laboratory in Himachal Pradesh for testing.
According to Mr. Mishra prima facie it appeared the problem with vaccine led to the death of these children. He also demanded the earliest testing of vaccines so that the report can be submitted to G K Mallik committee constituted by the state to reach the decisive conclusion.
Mishra said the Chief Minister had taken the death of four more children seriously and had directed release of Rs 50,000 from CM’s welfare fund, suspension of staff concerned, to lodge FIR and constituted an inquiry committee.
He said the inquiry committee has so far found that four teams with similar cold chain of vaccine were sent to Mohanlalganj.
