The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to deal firmly on reports of negligence in implementing the Mid-day meal scheme. After, it came under the scanner for its shoddy implementation, State Chief Minister Mayawati issued directions to officials to ensure good quality food was served to children under the scheme.
Ms. Mayawati, after reviewing the progress of the scheme, has directed all the officials to not to go lax on the quality of mid day meal being served to children. She has also warned of strict actions in case of any compromise on it.
An official release issued by her emphasize on training to cooks to ensure nutritious diet for children and hygiene.
The Chief Minister has also called for keeping a tab on the health of children by taking help of medical practitioners. Currently, 1.70 crore children at the primary level and 40 lakh children at the middle school level are covered in the state under Mid-day meal scheme.
